The Haitian Tragedy in the Dominican Republic

The aftermath of a 2013 decision by the Dominican Republic’s Constitutional Court denying citizenship

to the children of undocumented Haitian immigrants as far back as 1929 remained one of the tragic

stories of 2015. The story and its aftermath continue to resonate in the news media.

The New York Times weighed in with a comprehensive story on expulsions and voluntary returnees to

Haiti.
