HRT Announces 1804 List Inductees For 2023

After a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Haitian Roundtable announced today the Inductees to the 1804 List of Haitian American Changemakers and Ones To Watch for 2023.

In honor of our 15th anniversary, this year’s 1804 List recognizes 15 Haitian-Americans who have demonstrated outstanding achievement, have been proven forces for change, and have helped to create a better understanding of Haiti and the Haitian community in America. Since 2012, HRT has inducted over 160 community, industry and thought leaders of Haitian descent through the 1804 List.

The 1804 List Induction Ceremony and Dinner Reception will take place on June 10, 2023, from 6:00pm to10:00pm, at the New York Academy of Medicine in New York City. Please visit hrt1804list.eventbrite.com for tickets and information regarding sponsorship packages.

The 1804 List, named in honor of Haiti’s year of independence, recognizes Haitian-American Changemakers and Ones To Watch who are thought and industry leaders, rising stars or unsung heroes, who through their deeds and accomplishments, have helped to create a better understanding of Haiti and the Haitian community. The 1804 List has inducted over 160 leaders from around the country and continues a proud tradition of the Haitian Roundtable of chronicling the best in the Haitian community to the world. This year HRT will celebrate its 15th Anniversary.

Our Masters of Ceremony will be Nadege Fleurimond, Culinary Entrepreneur, Author and Speaker and Dr. Jeff Gardere, America’s Psychologist and TV Commentator. Our Red Carpet Host will be Lionel Moise, Emmy-Winning Anchor, Host and a 1804 List Inductee (2016). Our 2023 Honorary Event Co-Chairs are: Rajni Jacques, Global Head of Fashion & Beauty at Snapchat and a 1804 List Inductee (2019), Annie Jean-Baptiste, Author, Co-Founder and Director of Project Inclusion & Equity at Google and a 1804 List Inductee (2019), Dr. Peniel Joseph, Associate Dean for Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Founding Director, Center for the Study of Race and Democracy, at the LBJ School, University of Texas at Austin and a 1804 List Inductee (2015) and Dominique Telson, an Emmy-Nominated Producer and Executive Vice President at Blackmaled Productions and a1804 List Inductee (2019).

2023 CATHERINE FLON AWARD HONOREES

The Catherine Flon Award celebrates the legacy of one of the most historic and important symbols of the Haitian Revolution and Independence. The 2023 recipients of the Catherine Flon Award are Didi Bertrand Farmer, Founder of the Women and Girls Initiative, and posthumously to Dr. Paul Farmer, Founding Director of Partners In Health.

MIDWIN CHARLES LEGACY AWARD HONOREE

This award was established in tribute to our beloved friend and board member Midwin Charles, an attorney, TV legal analyst, and radio host who passed away in 2021. Midwin was a vocal champion of equality and social justice, a role model, and a powerful advocate for the Haitian community.

We are thrilled to announce that Guerline Jozef, Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Haiti Bridge Alliance will be the inaugural recipient of the Midwin Charles Legacy Award.
