An accomplished leader of human resources, Dina Simon is implementing a new era of staff recruitment, training, and retention as a New York City official and public servant. In October 2014, Dina was named Deputy Commissioner of Human Resources for the New York City Department of Correction. In this role, Dina oversees and manages the entire scope of the Department’s human resources operations.

Dina joined the Department of Correction from the Office of the New York City Comptroller where she was Director of Human Resources. She previously served in a variety of roles related to human resources and labor relations with increasing responsibility, including positions with the New York State Education Department, New York State Office of Developmental Disabilities, Norfolk State University, and the Navy Exchange Service Command Center.

Born in Haiti, Dina immigrated to the United States at the age of nine and grew up in Brooklyn and Long Island, New York. With Haiti in her heart, Dina founded the My Haiti Travels agency shortly following the devastating earthquake of January 2010 to support the resurgence of tourism and investment in Haiti, and to promote the patronage of local businesses, hotel and resort establishments and restaurants.

Today, My Haiti Travels produces high-quality travel services to Haiti for leisure and business purposes with a social impact, including its two annual signature expeditions: “Impact Week Haiti” ( and “Jacmel Getaway” My Haiti Travels is also building an online destination for information, reviews and ratings of hotels, restaurants and sites across Haiti.

Dina holds a Master of Public Administration from Long Island University and a Bachelor of Science from State University of New York College at Brockport. Additionally, Dina earned her Professional in Human Resources (PHR®) certification from the Society of Human Resource Management and garnered professional certifications from the New York State Education Department and Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations. Dina currently resides in Queens, New York.
