As Haitians, We Are The Keepers Of Our Legacy
First Midwin Charles Legacy Award to Immigration Advocate
The Haitian Roundtable is pleased to announce that Guerline Jozef has been selected as the inaugural recipient of the Midwin Charles Legacy Award. Jozef, co-founder and executive director of the Haiti Bridge Alliance, will receive the award on June 10th at the 1804 List Induction Ceremony.
The Haitian Bridge Alliance, also known as “The Bridge,” is a non-profit organization that advocates for fair and humane immigration policies, with a special focus on Black migrants, the Haitian community, women, LGBTQIA+ individuals and survivors of torture. It is based in San Diego, California.
This award was established in memory of our beloved friend and HRT board member Midwin Charles, an attorney, TV legal analyst and radio host who passed away in 2021. Midwin was a vocal champion of equity and social justice and an effective advocate for the Haitian community.
